Met some high school coaches

FYI

Last night I had a meeting with several High School coaches and we discussed FISS and conflict of interest issues..What a pleasamt supprise to meet with these hard working, under paid coaches who are there for the students and not for the money they can get out of the students. I may not say it often on this web site, but I believe most High School coaches are just like the coaches above, good hard working coaches. There is a small number of coaches who do not play by the rules and they hurt all of the great coaches in the school system who play by the rules.

I would suggest to all school systems that these coaches should be paid a fair wage for all the time they put into the team that they coach and the students.

As always, I/we are willing to meet with any high school coaches who would like to discuss FISS issues and any issues that they may have.

Musical chairs

Mr. Moniuszko

I sent an email to Paul Jansen on this date regarding the passing league. He responded that I should contact the WSHS athletic boosters for answers. The WSHS booster pres. says they have nothing to do with it. He suggested I contact the TD Boosters Pres. I was not given any contact information so I directed the email to the WSHS AD. He suggested I contact Paul Jansen. One big circle, as you can see. Like you, I am a busy man and do not have the time for musical chairs. Could you please communicate to Paul that we need to put in a chain of command that everyone understands.

Private business camps on FCPS sports websites

Paul 5/3/07

These are your words;

At the current time, the school system has appropriate and qualified program managers at both the local school and central level highly trained to monitor and evaluate the athletic program. It is the joint feeling of the superintendent and the school board that an outside oversight/compliance commission is not needed.

Then tell me why we have High Schools allowing private businesses to promote their business on the FCPS high school web sites? Why does FCPS permit use of their equipment at private business camps? Why does FCPS permit out of season activities in which the coaches are on the field? Tell me why FISS has to bring to your attention these Conflicts of Interests if your system is working?

We have provided you with the evidence for all of the above regarding Centerville HS, Fairfax HS and WSHS, now tell me if you have control over the FCPS sport program or not? Tell me what FCPS is going to do about these serious problems or are you going to put more roadblocks and barriers in our way and ignore these facts?

I have told you time and time again that you need TRAINING, SUPERVISION, OVERSIGHT and CONSEQUENCES in order to have control over any program.

One more time, FISS requests that FCPS conduct a review of the sport program by an outside group.

When you have time please answer the above.

PS I sent this to the school board because you indicated that they were part of the decision that an outside oversight/compliance commission is NOT NEEDED.
